Previously Hotmail had made available POP3 access

to users in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. Now Microsoft has made available

Hotmail POP3 access to users Worldwide. POP3 is a protocol that allows retrieval of your emails in almost any email program that you’ve installed on your mobile phone or PC.

Windows Live

To access Hotmail on your desktop email client or your phone use the configuration mentioned below;

POP server: pop3.live.com(Port 995)


POP SSL required? Yes


User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com


Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live


SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)


Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)


TLS/SSL required? Yes

This is indeed great news to all Hotmail users worldwide, they can now access Hotmail on Outlook without any additional plugins.
